The Kelty TC 2.5 is the top of the line offering in Kelty's Transit Carrier series of backpack child carriers. The TC 2.5 is usable as both a child carrier or as an everyday backpack when your passenger is elsewhere. As a child carrier, the TC 2.5 is essentially a "day-tripper" . . . suitable for urban use or afternoon hiking excursions, but not the ideal choice for extended hiking trips. If your plan were to take your Kelty baby carrier into the mountains or on a weekend long expedition, the aluminum frame and sophisticated suspension system of the Kelty Adventure would be a much better investment. The TC 2.5 has a light aluminum frame in the back, but is better used for trips to the park or down to the shopping district than a two-day hike up to Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire. The TC 2.5 has the most to offer, in terms of features, of any model in the Kelty Transit Carrier series. Like the other TCs, the 2.5 has a large main storage compartment, a removable diaper bag for easy access to parental necessities, and pockets for your cell phone and personal items on the padded waist belt. The adjustable shoulder and sternum straps are well padded, and the child cockpit is collapsible and designed for passenger comfort. The higher price of the TC 2.5 reflects a number of included accessories, at a reduced price, that you would otherwise have to purchase separately. What are the differences between the TC 2.5 and the TC 1.0 ? The TC 1.0: Is the least expensive of the Transit Carrier series Is lighter Has no back frame, which means diminished comfort and support Has a load limit of only 30 lbs. vs. the TC 2.5s limit of 40 lbs. Comes with no accessories
